If you can think it, you can model it! Discover the ever evolving world of 3D modeling and making. Participants will be introduced to software tools for 3D modeling and then learn all about the machines, materials, and hands-on techniques to make these models. One is not enough? Learn how models can be reproduced in different 3D printing materials, on various machines or casted through mold-making.
Art and Design Lab

Experiment with the world of design and build unique projects that take inspiration from the great artists and designers of the past and present. Understand what distinguishes their style, materials, ideas, and techniques in order to fuel your custom creations. Fabricate your own items using laser cutting, 3D printing, sewing, printmaking, and a variety of hands-on finishing techniques. Join us in “the lab” and test out your creative ideas.
BlocksCAD & 3D Making
3rd and up
3D printing is manufacturing of the future, right here and now. Learn the foundations of coding and computer-aided design (CAD) principles using BlocksCAD, an innovative and fun learning tool. Build on the introductory concepts, including loops, variables, and modules, to create unique, personalized, three-dimensional designs. Then see these design come to life as 3D printed, CNCed or laser cut items.
Board Game Design
5th and up
Design and make your own board game from scratch in this creativity filled program of strategy, plot development, designing, building, and making. Gamers will learn hand drawing, design software, laser cutting, 3D modeling and printing. Final artistic finishing techniques will bring your game to life for the game playing finale. Then take your game home to play with friends and family...game on!
Building and Woodworking
6th and up
Learn real-world construction techniques for building full size, human-scale environments and furnishing. Get comfortable reading and creating plans, taking precise measurements, managing materials, and using hand and power tools. Work closely with fellow students build an awesome structure while having a unique team building experience.
Create a Scene - Stage and Set Design
5th and up
Sing, act, and make your way into the world of set design and model making. Select a scene from a favorite show, book, movie, or your own imagination. Then build your mini-stage and make your scene come to life and learn a variety of planning and stage-craft techniques along the way. In collaboration with the wonderful team at Artbarn Community Theater, we offer the opportunity to come play with us this fall and make a scene!
DIY Superhero
6th and up
What's your superpower? Helmets, masks, armor, capes, gloves, utility tools, and special effects galore. Come get your cosplay on and build the superhero suit of your dreams. You will learn techniques from sketching and planning through materials and production options. Add electronic and interactive components to take your suit to the next level.
Dream House - Architecture and Design
5th and up
Whether it's a city brownstone, a house on the beach, or a cabin in the woods, you will design, build, landscape, furnish and decorate your dream house from the ground up while learning principles of architecture, construction, interior design, and sustainability. Finish off your perfect home with paint, fabric, stone, wood and more.
Extreme Vehicles
6th and up
Life in the fast lane! If you dream of motion and movement, this is the class for you. Learn about different types of vehicles, transportation models, and ideas in sustainable urban mobility. Think outside the box to build a unique pinewood derby racer. Then learn skills to trick out your bike, experiment with motors, and install custom coded electronics. Customize, modify, and create with gears, chains, and moving parts and take it to the street.

Welcome to the wild world of textiles! In this class, you will be exploring a wide range of processes involved in the making of clothing. Upgrade your old or thrifted clothes from drab to fab! Learn the importance of textile sustainability and have fun along the way. Take home multiple finished pieces of your own creation.

Learn basic principles of electronics, coding and how to control electro-mechanical components to build a simple machine. Electronics, motors, machines, building, coding and fun!
Maker Club

Art-tech at its best! An opportunity to explore, make, and create with expert engineering and artistic guidance, The Maker Club program is meant to introduce and familiarize participants to a number of different technologies available at The Makery. Students will rotate through three stations weekly. They will have a chance to interact with different instructors and mediums at each stations. Let's explore and get creative together!
Maker Studio
4th and up
Chill and create in this hour long art/tech class. This is a project based maker studio that will survey a variety of making techniques and projects. Projects are introduced and facilitated by Makery staff, but students will have time to explore and make at their own pace. If you need a creative outlet after a long day of school work, Maker Studio is the place to be!
Robotics
4th and up
Get started with robotics. Learn the basics of building and controlling a robot in a fun and interactive class. This class will prepare students with the basics to join a First Lego League team.
Science and Art
Ages 7 and up
In this class, students learn physics, chemistry, and biology in a fun and artistic way. The learning is facilitated through play, experimentation, design, and science-art projects. Students in this class get to create electroluminescent wire art, diffusion colorful gardens, leaf prints and more! Students will develop skills for experimental design, observe and interpret experiments, combine science and art for class project development, and build creative objects applying STEM concepts.
Woodworking
5th and up
Looking for an all hands on deck experience? Join us for a skill building workshop series. Explore the craft of woodworking while making a variety of fun and useful items from wood and other materials. Build skills in drafting, cutting, sanding, hand and power tools, gluing, clamping, sanding, finishing techniques, and design.
